OCI Holdings is set to establish a solar cell manufacturing plant in Texas, strengthening its solar energy supply chain spanning from Malaysia to the United States. The company’s integrated supply network will include OCI TerraSus (polysilicon), the new solar cell unit, MSE (module production), and OCI Energy (solar power generation).
OCI Holdings announced its $265 million investment in the Texas-based solar cell facility on Thursday. The company aims to begin commercial production of 1 gigawatt (GW) of solar cells in the first half of 2026, with plans to gradually expand capacity beyond 2GW. The polysilicon required for U.S. cell production will be supplied by OCI TerraSus.
OCI Holdings was the first South Korean company to enter the U.S. solar module manufacturing market in 2014. It has accumulated extensive experience and expertise across various solar energy projects over the past decade.
