Volunteer recruitment for visitor guidance at the upcoming BTS concert in Gwanghwamun has drawn strong interest. The daytime quota of 300 volunteers filled early, with a significant number of applications also coming from international fans.

The Seoul Volunteer Center is recruiting young volunteers to assist with visitor guidance for the concert scheduled to take place in Gwanghwamun on March 21.

In a phone interview with Economic Review (ER), Kim Ji-an, an associate at the External Cooperation Team of the Seoul Volunteer Center, said, "Interest in the visitor guidance volunteer program has been very high ahead of the BTS Gwanghwamun concert, and the 300 daytime slots filled quickly."

"We also received a notable number of applications from international fans, reflecting the global attention surrounding the event," Kim added. "Our youth volunteers will help welcome visitors from Korea and abroad by providing friendly guidance and sharing Seoul's hospitality."

The Seoul Volunteer Center is recruiting a total of 600 volunteers to assist visitors and provide concert information across central Seoul on the day of the event. As of March 5, the daytime quota of 300 had already been filled, while applications for the evening shift remain open on a first-come, first-served basis.

The volunteer role does not include access to the concert. Volunteers will not be stationed near the venue or in areas where the performance can be viewed.

Applicants must be between 19 and 39 years old and should be able to communicate in Korean while providing basic assistance in everyday English.

Volunteers will be deployed at major subway stations and around the Foreign Tourist Information Center, including Jonggak, Jongno 3-ga, Anguk, Euljiro-ipgu, Myeong-dong, Seodaemun, and Chungjeongno stations. A total of 360 volunteers will be assigned to subway stations, 160 along major detour routes, and 80 at the Foreign Tourist Information Center.

Activities will begin at 3:30 p.m. on March 21. Volunteers will receive orientation and meals before moving to their assigned locations. On-site guidance will run from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., providing directions, concert information, and interpretation services for visitors.

Participants will receive 6.5 hours of volunteer service credit through the national 1365 Volunteer Portal. Snacks and meals will be provided on the day of the activity, and volunteers will be covered by volunteer insurance. Participants must also complete a short online orientation of about 30 minutes before the event.
