Like America’s Wall Street bankers, they grow richer by enabling the globalization that impoverishes France’s working and middle class as represented by the Yellow Vests.

By proposing another fuel tax to combat global warming, which would do diddle if China and other developing nations continue to increase emissions, President Macron unleashed more than a revolt against the high cost of driving. Yellow Vests are violently protesting the deaf greed and statist superstitions of France’s aristocrats.

In the U.K., Theresa May, who opposed Brexit during the referendum, has coyly obstructed the outcome by acceding to all of the EU demands.

In America, Donald Trump offered hope and change to America’s Yellow Vests ? those away from the large coastal cities who have long suffered from jobs-destroying free trade and immigration.

The residual establishment among Democrats and center-right Republicans in Congress have obstructed President Trump’s legitimate mandate by stalling appointments. Democrats have abandoned support for Obama-era policies where those coincide with his agenda.

They forget President Obama ratchetted up border enforcement and deportations.

The West faces a mass migration from collapsing regimes in the South. It threatens the cultural cohesiveness and values that made possible liberal democracy and two centuries of progress from the Age of Invention to the post-World War II middle class prosperity.

Gerard Collomb, a respectable center-left politician and Interior minister until last October, warned Mr. Macron that France risks civil war if legal and illegal immigration are not sharply curtailed.

미국 월스트리트 은행가들처럼 그들은 노랑조끼로 대표되는 프랑스의 근로계층과 중산층을 가난하게 만드는 세계화를 가능케 함으로써 점점 더 부유해지고 있다.

지구온난화에 대처하기 위해서 또 다른 연료세를 제안함으로써 에마뉘엘 마크롱 프랑스 대통령은 높은 자동차 주행 비용에 반대하는 민중저항 이상의 사태를 촉발했다. 중국과 다른 개발도상 국가들이 온난화 가스 방출을 계속 증가시킬 경우 이런 정책은 사기가 되고 말 것이다. 노랑조끼 부대는 프랑스 귀족들의 탐욕스럽고 국가통제주의적인 각종 미신에 격렬히 저항하고 있다.

영국에서는 국민투표 때 브렉시트( 영국의 유럽연합·EU 탈퇴)에 반대했던 테리사 메이 전 총리가 EU의 모든 요구에 응함으로써 투표 결과를 소극적으로 막으려 했다.

미국에서는 도널드 트럼프 대통령이 미국의 노랑조끼 부대에 희망과 변화를 제시했다. 이들은 해안의 여러 대도시에서 멀리 떨어진 주민들로 일자리를 파괴하는 자유무역 및 이민에 오랜 기간 시달려왔다.

미 의회의 민주당원들과 중도우파 공화당원들 가운데 남아 있는 잔존 기성 세력이 각종 공직자 임명을 지연시킴으로써 트럼프 대통령의 합법적인 권한행사를 방해했다. 민주당원들은 트럼프 대통령의 안건과 일치하는 버락 오바마 대통령 시대의 각종 정책에 대한 지지를 포기했다.

그들은 오바마 대통령이 국경 관리와 추방을 점차 강화한 사실을 잊고 있다.

서방은 남쪽의 무너지는 정권들을 떠난 대규모 주민 이주에 직면해 있다. 그것은 자유민주주의와 발명의 시대부터 제2차 대전 후까지 2세기에 걸친 중산층의 번영을 가능케 했던 문화적 단결과 가치관을 위협한다.

작년 10월까지 프랑스 내무장관을 지냈으며 존경할 만한 중도좌파 정치인인 제라르 콜롱브는 프랑스가 합법 및 불법 이민을 대폭 줄이지 않을 경우 내전의 위협에 직면할 것이라고 마크롱에게 경고했다.
