SK Telecom launches joint project on 5G and AI with Minerva Schools

South Korea’s top wireless carrier SK Telecom on Thursday announced a joint project with U.S. Minerva Schools to bring new ideas to life and test them to further adopt disruptive technology in its business solutions.

The project will last three months from Sept. 20 in the areas of 5G-related business development and 5G and AI-based language acquisition solution among others.

Minerva Schools established in 2014 in alliance with the California-based Keck Graduate Institute is hailed as a futuristic model for higher education and is well known for joint projects with global business, social enterprises, and public organizations in seven cities including San Francisco, Seoul and Berlin.

Minerva Schools students in the project will tour SK Telecom, and work in cooperation through emails and social media tools. Project results will be released in December.

Meanwhile, Ben Nelson, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Minerva Schools, will take the podium at the World Knowledge Forum to take place at Hotel Shilla to deliver his lecture titled 'Talent Pathways for the New Knowledge Revolution' on Sept. 27.

Nelson, a visionary with a passion to reinvent higher education spent years at Snapfish, where he helped build the company from startup to one of the world’s top e-commerce services. Serving as CEO from 2005 through 2010, he began his tenure at Snapfish by leading the company’s sale to HP for $300 million. Nelson sparked his passion for reforming undergraduate education first at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He also served as the chair of the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education (SCUE), a U.S. pedagogical think tank.
