A dismal grey haze continues to blanket South Korea for the second straight day on Wednesday. Ultrafine dust concentrations have surged to "very bad" levels throughout the Korean Peninsula due to the unwelcomed seasonal visitor from China when smog peaks during winter due to heating. Low-grade emission vehicles have been banned from the streets of downtown Seoul as part of state efforts to tackle air pollution. The dust clouds are expected to start clearing from Wednesday night with the arrival of cold winds from the northwest.
