The Busan Metropolitan Council and the Ulaanbaatar City Council in Mongolia have pledged to enhance various fields of exchange.

According to the Busan Metropolitan Council, a delegation from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, has been actively participating in a short visit from the 7th to the 11th, totaling 4 nights and 5 days.

On the 8th, as the first agenda of their visit, the delegation visited the Ulaanbaatar City Council, where they met with Chairman Jantsan Batbayasgalan to sign a friendship exchange agreement between the two councils, committing to cooperation and exchange in various fields including administration, economy, culture, tourism, and environment.

The following day, on the 9th, the delegation held discussions with Ambassador Choi Jin-won, Ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of Korea, to provide advice and investigate detailed action plans for friendship exchanges. They also visited KOTRA Ulaanbaatar Trade Office to hear about the status and challenges faced by Korean companies entering the Mongolian market.

During this meeting, Ambassador Choi Jin-won advised, "With the average lifespan of Mongolians being 65 for males and 75 for females, there is an urgent need for expanding health sector exchanges such as importing excellent medical products from Korea." Meanwhile, a representative from KOTRA Ulaanbaatar Trade Office mentioned, "Ulaanbaatar faces issues with urban infrastructure, sewage, transportation, and air pollution. In particular, there is a bid underway for the introduction of a subway system, requiring substantial support for Korean companies to enter."

Local Mongolian media outlets, including the Mongolian National Broadcasting (MBN), Eagle TV, and SBN, positively evaluated the delegation's visit to the Ulaanbaatar City Council, expecting it to strengthen the friendly cooperation between the two cities and contribute positively to their development and mutual benefits.

In particular, Chairman Ahn Seong-min appeared on Mongolian National Broadcasting (MBN) for an interview and appeared on private broadcasts such as 'Journey in the city,' introducing Busan's major industries, representative international events, and advanced public transportation services. He also discussed future cooperation with Ulaanbaatar in various aspects.

The delegation from the Busan Metropolitan Council will conclude their visit on the 10th with meetings with key officials in Ulaanbaatar and a field visit to Terelj National Park, and they are scheduled to return to Korea on the 11th.

부산광역시의회와 몽골 울란바토르시의회가 다양한 분야의 교류 확대를 약속했다.

부산시의회에 따르면 몽골 울란바토르 방문 대표단은 지난 7일부터 11일까지 4박 5일의 짧은 방문 일정을 역동적으로 소화하고 있다.

대표단은 8일, 방문 첫 일정으로 울란바토르 시의회를 방문해 바트바야스갈란 잔트산 의장을 만나 양 의회간 우호교류협정을 체결하고, 향후 행정·경제·문화·관광· 환경 등 각 분야에서 협력과 교류 증진에 협력키로 약속했다.

이튿날인 9일, 대표단은 주몽골 대한민국대사 면담을 통한 우호교류 분야에 대한 자문 및 세부 추진방안 자료조사 활동과 KOTRA 울란바토르 무역관을 방문해 몽골의 한국기업 진출현황과 애로사항을 청취하는 자리도 가졌다.

이 자리에서 최진원 주몽골 대사는 “몽골인들의 평균수명이 남성은 65세, 여성은 75세로 한국의 우수한 의학품 수입 등 보건분야 교류 확대가 시급한 상황”이라 자문했으며, KOTRA 울란바토르 무역관 관계자는“울란바트로는 도시인프라, 하수도, 교통, 대기오염 등의 문제가 있으며, 특히 지하철 도입 관련 입찰이 추진되고 있는데 한국기업의 진출을 위해 많은 지원이 필요하다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 현지 몽골국영방송(MBN)을 비롯한 Eagle TV, SBN 등 현지 주요 언론은 대표단의 이번 울란바토르 시의회 방문에 대해, 양 도시의 우호 협력 관계를 더욱 강화하고 각 도시의 발전과 상호 이익 확대에 긍정적으로 기여할 것으로 평가했다.

특히 안성민 단장은 9일 몽골국영방송(MBN) 인터뷰 출연 및 민영방송의 'Journey in the city' 에 출연해 부산의 주요산업, 대표적 국제행사, 선진 대중교통 서비스 등을 소개하고, 향후 다방면에서 울란바토르와의 협력 관계에 대해서도 이야기했다.

한편 부산시의회 대표단은 10일 울란바토르의 주요 기관 관계자 간담회 및 테렐지 국립공원 현장방문 등 일정을 마무리하고 오는 11일 한국으로 귀국할 예정이다.
