Lotte Aluminium Co., a comprehensive packaging material company under South Korea’s Lotte Group, announced Wednesday that it will split into two entities, in a move to focus on respective areas of expertise.

Lotte Aluminium will be divided into Lotte Infracell, which will focus on secondary battery materials, and Lotte Packaging Solutions, which will be responsible for packaging business.

Choi Yon-su, chief executive officer of Lotte Aluminium will take the helm of both offspring companies as CEO.

Lotte Infracell is set to carve out its niche as a specialist in secondary battery materials, inheriting the aluminum foil business previously under Lotte Aluminium’s BM business division.

Lotte Infracell aims to capitalize on the fast-growing electric battery market by focusing on high-quality materials essential for battery production.

Lotte Packaging Solutions will take over the operations previously managed by the PM business division of Lotte Aluminium.

This includes a wide range of packaging operations such as cans, soft packaging, corrugated cardboard, household products, and PET bottles.
