Samsung Electronics is set to kick off the new year by introducing a mid-range smartphone priced in the 400,000 won ($305) range. The South Korean tech giant announced on Thursday that it will launch the Galaxy A25 5G in the domestic market on Jan. 5.

The new smartphone follows the Galaxy A24, which was released in May last year, marking a quicker release for this year. The early launch seems to align with the government’s emphasis on reducing household phone bills, pushing the release date about four months forward. Samsung Electronics plans to unveil four mid-range smartphones priced at 800,000 won or below in the first half of this year, following the introduction of two mid-range devices (A24 and A34) in the first half of the previous year.

The Galaxy A25 is retailed at 449,900 won, which represents an increase of about 50,000 won compared to its predecessor. While the previous product was exclusively for LTE, the Galaxy A25 will be released as a 5G model. It will be available in three colors: yellow, light blue, and blue-black. The new device will feature Samsung Electronics’ designed Exynos 1280 as an application processor.

The Galaxy A25, equipped with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display, boasts an improved maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. Its rear setup includes a main camera with 50-megapixel resolution, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera, while the front camera stands at 13 megapixels.
