SEOUL -- At next week's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, LGU+, a mobile carrier in South Korea, will demonstrate business-to-business solutions based on a 5G communication network such as a remotely controlled logistics robot, smart CCTVs and a high-definition map for autonomous driving.
LGU+ said Thursday that visitors to its booth in Barcelona would see how a smart factory run in South Korea would be controlled remotely. Cameras installed in an autonomous robot will transmit images in real time to the screen in the booth.
Using various sensors, the robot would monitor the factory's operation environment such as temperature and humidity and send data so that the control booth in Barcelona can see if anything goes wrong.
Intelligent CCTVs measure the stay time of visitors in the exhibition hall in Barcelona, and a low-latency video transmission solution will be used to remote control drones and excavators. On the touch screen installed on the booth wall, low-latency data will be transmitted for an autonomous driving high-definition map service that delivers information on the road quickly and accurately.
LGU+ and two other mobile carriers have established 5G communication networks in South Korea.
