Lotte Mart unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered grocery shopping app called “Lotte Mart Zetta,” that aims to transform the online grocery experience with personalized and predictive features.

The Zetta app, which the company introduced on Thursday, is an upgraded version of the previous “Lotte Mart Mall” app that relaunched on April 1st, 2025. The centerpiece of the revamped app is its AI-driven shopping assistant, designed to streamline and customize the grocery-buying process for each user.

The most eye-catching feature is the “Smart Cart,” which builds a tailored shopping cart with a single tap. Unlike traditional personalized marketing that only makes products suggestions, the Smart Cart automatically fills the cart based on the customer’s purchase history, buying habits, and replenishment cycles. The process takes less than ten seconds.

The app also predicts product demand and stock availability to reduce out-of-stock issues. When users select a preferred delivery time, Zetta checks each store’s inventory and sales trends to show only items that can be delivered within the requested window. This resolves previous problems where items became unavailable after orders were placed, disrupting delivery schedules.

Lotte Mart plans to further enhance personalization by displaying user-specific product recommendations on the app’s main screen in future updates.

The adoption of innovative AI in online grocery shopping reflects the sector’s growing potential. According to Statistics Korea, South Korea’s online food sales topped 47 trillion won ($32.19 billionin 2024, up 15 percent from the year before, and the market has seen consistent double-digit growth since 2017. While consumers have traditionally preferred to purchase fresh food in-store, AI-powered solutions could drive significant growth in online adoption.
